Munich, Germany, 14.01.2021: Weickmann & Weickmann, the Munich-based office of patent attorneys and attorneys at law, has appointed Manuel Millahn as partner as of January 1, 2021. The graduate engineer and patent attorney works in the firm's Engineering Department, and specialises on patenting and enforcing IP rights for technical patents and developments in industry as well as in medicine.
Manuel Millahn has extensive industry knowledge in mechanical engineering, communications, the automotive sector and medical technology. His clients include Fränkische Rohrwerke and Fränkische Industrial Pipes, whose very broad product portfolio ranges from infiltration ditches (devices for the controlled drainage of rainwater) to corrugated fluid pipes – for example for fuels in motor vehicles or hoover hoses – to quick couplings for such fluid pipes. He also works for automotive suppliers, mobile phone manufacturers and leading medical technology companies.

Manuel Millahn studied mechanical engineering at the Technical University of Munich with a focus on medical technology and ergonomics. Before joining Weickmann & Weickmann, he first worked at Brainlab AG in Feldkirchen near Munich, Germany, as a senior design engineer in research and development in the surgical field, where he was responsible for the development of medical instruments from the methodical concept phase to market maturity. He then founded the business unit "Medical & Industrial Application" at the world market leader for cinema cameras ARRI Cine Technik GmbH in Munich. There he built up the medical technology division. During his time at Brainlab and ARRI, Mr Millahn was involved in the patenting of over 20 groundbreaking developments for digital surgical technology.
Since 2014, he has been working in the field of intellectual property at Weickmann & Weickmann. He has been a German Patent Attorney, European Trademark and Design Attorney since 2017 and a European Patent Attorney since 2018. His practice focuses on patent prosecution and opposition proceedings before the German Patent and Trademark Office, the Federal Patent Court and the European Patent Office, nullity proceedings and utility model cancellation proceedings, as well as licensing agreements and expert opinions in patent infringement matters. He also advises in the fields of employee inventions and third party rights. He is a member of the Institute of Professional Representatives before the European Patent Office (epi) and the Chamber of Patent Attorneys.
