We are service providers and we see our task as being to provide the best protection of our clients' knowledge and know-how in the field of intellectual property on a national and international level and to strengthen our clients' priorities by ensuring the competitiveness of their property rights.
We are a capable and motivated team of more than 40 patent attorneys, attorneys at law and university-educated technicians/engineers who are supported by more than 100 members of specialised staff. Our expertise covers all technical and legal aspects of intellectual property and allows us to apply an interdisciplinary approach as a team to all relevant issues. Owing to the qualified and highly diversified training of our team, we are in a position to quickly identify and resolve problems and to steadily provide our clients with a competent team of attorneys. Rankings by independent assessment bodies confirm the success our work system.
Our approach means that we feel responsible for all our clients' interests and that we do not lose sight of business considerations, either. Detailed advice regarding the prospects and cost of any action to be taken, as well as means of achieving cost efficiency and staggering expected costs are part of the services our clients can always rely on.
Bearing in mind our clients' interests in other countries, we maintain excellent contacts to renowned law firms in the field of intellectual property around the world. For many decades, this network of cooperation has proven highly successful and has been continuously developed and strengthened.
Our staff are our firm's greatest asset. Our team is not only very well trained and able to think independently and show initiative, but we encourage and value employees' suggestions for improving the organisation of our firm. We are proud that a substantial number of our staff has been working for us for decades.
We also show commitment beyond our firm: we take responsibility, for example, on the board of the German Chamber of Patent Attorneys, as tutors at lectures preparing candidates for the qualifying examination for European Patent Attorneys, as visiting professors at the University of Political Science and Law (CUPL) Peking, or on the board of the Christiane Herzog Stiftung für Mukoviszidose-Kranke (the Christiane Herzog Foundation for Cystic Fibrosis Patients)

Only three years later, Albert Weickmann joined the firm in 1885. His sons, grandsons, and great-grandsons - now in the fourth generation - have contributed to building up the law firm together with other partners.
A strong sense of solidarity among the partners has been important for us from the very beginning. Crucial criteria for appointing new partners not only include excellent expertise, but also the ability to work in a team and demonstrate people skills. Those criteria have founded the good reputation of our law firm and ensured that our firm has been competitive even in difficult economic and political times.
The long commitment of our firm to all aspects of intellectual property is also illustrated by our archives, which have been preserved since the firm's foundation, documenting the work of patent attorneys and the situation of intellectual property at that time, e.g. in the patent specifications No. 24889 and No. 25256 granted in 1883 by the Kaiserliches Patentamt (Imperial Patent Office), Berlin.
The takeover of Hansmann & Vogeser, a Munich patent attorneys’ firm with a long tradition, at the beginning of 2015, has mapped out the course for the future development of our law firm. The law firm of Hansmann & Vogeser can likewise look back on a history of more than 130 years and is comparable to our principles in its working methods and the firm’s objectives.
